Counselling for young people
Our award-winning team of experienced counsellors can work with young people whatever the challenge. Talking to a professional away from school or home life gives the opportunity to express their feelings and understand why they may feel this way.
Our counsellors specialise in a wide range of approaches including creative methods such as sand tray therapy, tailored to the child’s age, situation and development.
We address personal needs and have safeguarding measures in place to ensure young people get the support they need.
How can counselling be helpful?
It may be helpful to talk about everyday worries, managing exam stress and overcoming relationship issues with friends, family and teachers.
Counselling can also help with self-harm concerns, grief, depression and anxiety, and learning difficulties. If something is making your child unhappy, no matter how small it may seem, it is important.
Sometimes it’s just good to talk to a professional objectively, while other times, more support may be needed.

Young people counsellors
The first step is to complete our referral form, where we’ll talk to you to find out what kind of counselling will work best.
It’s important to have the right therapist who understands you. Assessments are done by our lead counsellors, who have a lot of knowledge, and know our team well. They’ll guide you through the process of finding the right therapy for you, and the best counsellor to talk to.
We have worked with over 3000 people

"My wonderful counsellor actively listened to all my issues without judgement and offered genuine support which helped me no end"
“Having a consistent place for me to be honest without judgement was really important to help me process the trauma I had experienced. My therapist was an incredibly important part of making me want to keep going”
Platfform for young people
By young people for young people
Platfform Wellbeing is part Platfform, the charity for mental health and social change. We offer a range of projects supporting young people in South Wales through a combination of peer support, workshops and courses, 1:1 support and volunteering opportunities.
Our projects bring young people together so that they can connect and share their experiences with others that may be facing similar challenges to their own. We don’t try to ‘fix’ people, we listen and work with young people to find new ways and strategies that help to promote their mental health and wellbeing.
