Events and circumstances
Mental health isn’t about what’s wrong with us – it’s often about what happens to us, or what should have happened for us but didn’t and the circumstances in which we are born, grow, live, work and age.
Developed by our team of Psychologists, this training advances our understanding of mental health and highlights how our experiences, environments, culture, and physiology can shape the way we think and act, such as how we manage stress and how we function day to day.
Together, we’ll explore how we can better support ourselves and others and how we can create a more compassionate, inclusive culture where people can thrive.
Shift beyond signposting, towards shared responsibility for wellbeing.
Support leaders and teams to respond relationally, not reactively.
Build trust, empathy, and understanding within teams.
Improve wellbeing and retention by addressing the root causes.
To build confidence in supporting mental health at work, the course covers risk, safeguarding and ways to look after ourselves and others when things are tough. We also introduce the Platfform Compass as a practical tool for creating environments where people feel genuinely supported.
This training covers:
Mental health isn’t about what’s wrong with us – it’s often about what happens to us, or what should have happened for us but didn’t and the circumstances in which we are born, grow, live, work and age.
Mental health is fundamentally about social health, our relationships and the people we connect with can contribute to their wellbeing, resilience and ability to thrive.
Helping managers understand their role in creating a secure base for employees to explore and try new things while offering a safe haven to return to which will be supportive, encouraging, nurturing and non-judgmental.
Organisations who create the time and space to reflect on embedding wellbeing into the fabric of the workplace can lay the foundation for increased energy, productivity, and team happiness. This enables everyone to bring their best to work each day, leading to stronger performance and better outcomes for the whole organisation.
The importance of looking after your own wellbeing, how this improves our productivity, our ability to do our work well and how much we enjoy what we do. Recognise leaders impact and work's role in fostering thriving through opportunities, purpose, autonomy, and fair treatment.
A space to reflect and engage in a process of continuous learning that will help facilitate organisational change. We will consider both successes and challenges, sharing learning from both. What's gone well? Why did I feel that way? What was difficult? How can I improve in the future?
We are part of Platfform, a mental health and social change charity. Our approach is trauma-informed and relational. Rather than viewing mental health through a medicalised lens that focuses on individual problems or “disorders,” we look at the wider context — people’s experiences, environments, and circumstances.
We don’t ask, “What’s wrong with you?” but rather, “What’s happened to you?”
Our mental health awareness training recognises the strong link between mental health and the workplace. We focus on having meaningful conversations at work and humanising systems that are healthier, more relational, and better connected.
“I found the course very informative, it taught me a lot about my own mental wellbeing and that of the people I work with. Given me tools to try to be the best officer I can be, build rapport and take the overall picture into account. I think overall I have learnt a lot and it will benefit me greatly in my role”
“Thank you, you have given us a lot to think about and take on board with our day to day discussions with client. It was a good reminder that they may have a lot going on and that it may have been a big step for them to make the referral and ask for support”
“The 4 Cs were really helpful to think about how do embed this into our work with young people. I have lots of notes now! Come away encouraged that the power lies in our relationships, giving others power, choice and agency and holding that hope for people”
“Gave me new perspectives on mental health and new ways of thinking about how best to support colleagues. I gained some really useful ideas for implementing a team approach, through reflection and input from the trainer. I also gained some insight into areas where I was ‘stuck’ and ideas for how to move forward”
Our approach is based on the latest research evidence and is grounded in the perspective that feelings and behaviours often labelled as ‘symptoms of illness’ are, in fact, meaningful responses to what’s happening in our lives.
By taking this view, we’re able to teach people how to understand and support those struggling with their mental health in a different way.
We understand the importance of risk management and signposting to other support such as an employee assistance programme and these elements are included in our training; however, we also emphasise the value of open connection and supportive conversations.
The aim of our mental health awareness course is to equip individuals and organisations with the skills to recognise signs of poor mental health and feel more confident to support people who might be struggling.
This training is suitable for everyone across your organisation, from senior leaders and managers to frontline teams and support staff. Mental health affects all of us, and the tools we share are designed to strengthen understanding, communication, and connection at every level.
Whether you’re responsible for people, shaping culture, or simply wanting to better support colleagues, this training offers valuable insight and practical approaches for all roles.
We offer flexible delivery. The course can be run online or in person, depending on what works best for your organisation.
We offer this course as a two-day training, which allows us to explore the content in depth and give you the time and space to reflect, practise new approaches, and think about how to embed them within your organisation. This extended format helps people consider not just the information, but how it shapes everyday interactions, relationships, and the way teams work together.
If you need something shorter, we also offer a condensed one-day version that covers the core principles and key practical tools.
Our course introduces the principles of trauma-informed practice, helping participants understand how past experiences—including trauma—can shape how people behave and respond at work. We focus on empathy, emotional safety, and how to create environments where people feel seen, respected, and supported.
Yes. This course offers practical, preventative tools that can be integrated into your wider workplace mental health and wellbeing goals—particularly if you’re looking to move beyond tick-box training and into cultural change.
At Platfform Wellbeing, we’ve focused on developing our offer to organisations, striving for a deeper understanding of how mental health and work intersect. The realisation that work plays a vital role in holding us in the world—grounding us, shaping our identity, and connecting us to a sense of purpose—has shaped much of our thinking and approach.
Many organisations choose to combine it with:
Consultancy around workplace culture and systems
Reflective practice or supervision for staff
Counselling for employees who need more individual support
Additional training for managers and leaders
We’re happy to talk with you about what might be most helpful for your organisation and how different elements can work together.
